If properly applied it will have a long life. But, caution must be used, for if it is placed close to the fan it can be subject to ebbing air currents which will cause actuation of the vane and reduce its operating life. Care must be exercised to have it located away from ebbing air currents. Differential low pressure switches can overcome ebbing air currents because the air traveling through a tube to the diaphragm is dampened when it enters the switch. Vane type airflow switches can only operate on horizontal or vertical up airflow. They can't be used with vertical downward airflow, because gravity can then actuate the vane. The Model 103B can now be supplied with gold contacts for low voltage and low current.
